Have you ever bought a book because it felt good in your hands?
While I can understand the appeal of the Kindle and other e-readers, I like the way books feel and smell. I like turning down the pages and bending the covers back while I read. Something about flipping the pages, waiting to see what is going to happen. I love it.
I was at the store today just looking through books and I picked up The Time Travelers Wife. I've been wanting to read it before I see the movie but it has an insane wait list at my library. I didn't plan on buying it, I just picked it up out of habit but as soon as I did, I had to buy it. It was the way it felt in my hands, the pages are thin but heavy and it's one of those "chic lit" sized paperbacks. It just felt like the kind of book I would keep on my bookshelf for years.
I'm such a dork.

You are a dork, but that's a whole other topic...one too time consuming to ever begin to delve into. :)
I will never buy a Kindle or anything of the sort. I'm completely old school when it comes to books - I have to hold the actual book in my hands when I'm reading it. I want to smell it, underline it, fold the pages back, use my dachshund bookmark...a Kindle just can't compare. And you can't pass Kindles down to your children...well you can, but that's lame.

Saw you comment on Jaci's latest post, then saw the sits button so wanted to give some comment love! :)
You'll be so glad you picked up the Time Traveler's Wife, it's a great read. So different from the movie - particularly the end.
As far as the Kindle thing goes- I hear you! I've got an Apple iPad on the way *squeee!*, so I'm going to try out the e-book thing on that, but I'm not optimistic.
I am a dork too! A book must feel good in my hands...I bought a book once because it was BIG and it felt amazing...I still have yet to read the entire thing but I will pick it up from time to time to skim through it and feel it in my hands.
I also love the smell of a brand new book...love it!
